| | I"m in Indanapolis now, visiting my college roommate. He's at work, at a real job, and I'm sitting in his apartment, on his computer... We went to a Russian resturant last night, I got Zarkoyee...then we watched Walk on Water. Wonderful movie, i recommend it.
Its surreal to see college buddies starting lives, careers, settling down in big cities far from the cares of Wilmore, Asbury... Its just a flicker, just a blip on the screen, then its gone. College is gone, and rest of life begins-- I was reading Psalm 90 the other day and it struck me in an austere moment how short is life. 70 years, maybe 80 if we're strong. I look at the managers at the resturant where I work, wonderful people!, but they spend 40-50 hours a week pleasing people, meeting people's base desire. They do it for their kids, so their kid's kids can get good educations and run businesses and help their kids...Satisfy us with your steadfast love...Make us glad as many days as you have afflicted us...Let your work be manifest to your servants...Prosper the work of our hands... I want to do something more purposeful. More contributive. Maybe I'll save the whales...ha. |
