well, I don't know an answer to that, if I may intrude here. I came down with illness and my mother has prayed the healing of Jesus's stripes over me and healing throughout my body. I feel the infection will run its course and I'm a naturalist and a holistic health major and I'm treating it all as best I can. does that mean He can't heal me? no. does it mean I don't think he will? hard to say actually... am I a faithless individual? I don't think so, but I am human afterall....

Of course we should, and I can sympathize with T_r_e_e.

this is a great question, ryan.  i personally believe it is completely appropriate to pray for deliverance from affliction, for a few reasons.  The biggest for me is that when we cry out to God for deliverance, we are drawing closer to our heavenly Father, pleading for Him to care for us.  I believe that God is pleased to hear our cries, because He longs to hear from us.  does this make sense?  anyway, my two cents... for whatever they are worth.

because of the cross should i ask the man holding a shotgun to my head to fire away? or maybe just blow off an arm?

i dont think we should ask a way out of trial, but to see what amazing lessons and joy we are sposed to learn from them.
